2/3y - 6 = 2
2/3y - 6 + 6 = 2 + 6
2/3y = 8
3(2/3y) = 3(8)
2y = 24
2y / 2 = 24 / 2
y = 24 / 2
y = 12

2/3y-6=2
2/3y-6+6=2+6
2/3y=8
(3/1)(2/3y)=8(3)
2y=24
2y/2=24/2
y=12
Just remember that an equation is like a see saw, what you add or take away from one side must also be added or taken away from the other side.
Show your work and then if there is a problem, you will be able to back up and find where the mistake was made.
If you are having trouble with your homework, why don't you tell your teacher?
