Those are all huge topics and I would take one of them, any one of them, and break it down into something much more manageable ... let's say, for example, you want to do World War II ... how about the War in the Pacific, or even more narrow, Island Hopping or Pearl Harbor or Iwo Jima or the dropping of the atomic bomb.

Stay focused on one topic that isn't too large and you will do fine!

if I were you I would go with the WW2... there are so many individual topics you can focus on...
- pact between Germany and Russia
- Germany invades Poland (beginning of the WW2)
- D-Day (landing in Normandy)
- Genocide / Concentration camps around Europe
- Germany's allies
- North African campaign (El Alamein)
- Roosevelt vs. Churchill vs. Stalin
(there was an excellent documentary on the History channel called 'Warlords'... you may be able to find it somewhere online)
- Eastern Front (Germany invades Russia)
- Pearl Harbor (the US enter the WW2)
- Pacific war (Guadalcanal, the Philippines... )
- A-bomb
etc...
