When driving the other day my AC started making a tiny buzzing sound, but still worked.. It eventually started to get lounder and louder and now I just keep it off (although, it does still work).. The other day I checked it again and it made no noise and worked perfectly for about 2 hours, and then started making the noise again.. It almost sounds like a high pitched jet engine or something, but goes off as soon as turn off the AC, so it has to be that.. IDEAS???

Where is the noise coming from? Under the hood or the blower?

Sometimes, a small object gets into the system near the blower motor and make rattling noise. I've also heard bearing on the motor (blower) gets worn and make intermittent noise.

Get it checked soon as it could get expensive if the component (whatever it is) completely breaks down.

Your AC compressor clutch could have failed and is causing your fan belt to slip and make the screeching noise. Don't turn your A/C on until you have the clutch checked and the belt replaced.

It sounds like the compressor berrings are going. If it still works, it may be as simple as the belt, but from what you describe with it still working, the clutch may be going too..

the ac clutch is probably bad as it has bearings in it, get it fixed before it locks up on you and burns the serpentine belt off too.
