Birds also love suet, which is fat from bacon or
beef, that has been chilled and made into a ball.
You can cover it with cornflakes or sesame seeds
and put it in a tree.

I never ever put out any sort of food for the wild birds. I just provide clean drinking water in a secure location, and I have various birds visiting all day long.

Get a bag of mixed grain from a rural suppliers. I get 20kg bags for about $13. The same stuff, labelled "Wild Bird Seed" in the supermarket costs $7 for a 5kg bag.

Yes, you can use the following:
Cheese, cooked rice, bacon fat, suet, cereals, nuts, dried fruit and wholemeal bread crumbs.
Avoid pieces of white bread, salted peanuts, dessicated coconut, uncooked meat and spicy food.
Birds also need water occasionally so a small bird bath is useful to have, especially during dry weather or frosty weather when other water sources are frozen.

Go to a farm supply store and buy it for under half of what it cost in pet shops ect. It,s exactly the same thing with another label on it. Cracked corn is very good for bird feed too.

Sure, birds will love crumbled leftover or stale bread, buns etc, remains of fruit such as apple cores etc, lots of your scraps will do them fine.
