no that is part of the source code in the page you viewing. for example here is how to put an image on the page.

here is how to add that little yellow box

text in yellow box

for all things you can put on a page like links you can do it this way

>Yahoo

the title attribute will do that. so no there's nothing you can do to make it go away.

in fact if you write your own pages by hand and you want to get the page to pass validation in the w3c validator (checks page for errors) you will have to add alt and title. you won't have a choice.

What you want to do is disable Tooltips, which is what those little boxes are called. I don't see a way to do this in directly in Windows. You have two choices, either you have to edit the Registry, something I don't think a beginner should do, or download a program such as TweakUI, free from Microsoft, which will let you do this, and many other nice system tweaks through a dialog box. Note: In TweakUI tooltips are called Balloon Tips, and you turn them off under Taskbar and Start menu settings.

Open My Computer, click on Tools at the top
Select Folder Options > View
Scroll all the way to the bottom and UNcheck
"Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items"

This will only fix it for the desktop.
for the Quicklaunch (shortcuts), right-click, select properties,
General
Change the top description (or erase)

Nope, sorry! It is a function of the web Page itself. But if you were to find it for the particular web browser you use it would be found in "Preference" or "Options" in the toolbar.
