A. The U.S. intervention was based on the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution.
This is wrong. The United States intervention in South East Asia occurred many years prior to the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution.

B. The loss of over 50,000 American lives led to a strong anti-war movement in the 1960's.
These deaths (more than 58,000) certainly contributed to an antiwar fever in the United States, but it wasn’t the primary cause.

C. The Paris Peace Accords established a lasting independent, democratic government in South Vietnam.
These Peace Accords only provided a way for the participants to withdraw with out losing face. There never was, and still isn’t, a democratic government in Southeast Asia.

D. The war was begun under President Lyndon Johnson and ended by President Richard Nixon.
Certainly the United States with drew from this war under the guidance of President Nixon, but it began under President Eisenhower when he placed military advisors in Southeast to stop Ho Chi Min from becoming President for the SEATO promoted vote in 1954.

E. America bombed North Vietnam and Cambodia in efforts to cut off supplies to the rebels in South Vietnam.
It was the bombing of the Ho Chi Min Trail that was the effort to cut off supplies and to stop the movement of the North Viet Nam Troops of General Giap into South Viet Nam. The bombing of Cambodia and North Viet Nam was meant to destroy the North Viet Nam Troops.

A. False this resolution was with N.Korea

B. Partial truth. The American Media, whats new, reports on the happenings there were very slanted. If they would keep out of the areas and let the military do it's job things would be setteled in a lot shorter time. i.e. Schwartskoph did not allow the press to enter Iraq with the troops. He went in to do a job and didn't need any bleeding hearts to be reporting.
WAR IS HELL AND PEOPLE DIE! End of story!

C The paris accords were a joke that did nothing to bring about democracy anywhere.

D American troops went in as advisors under Eisenhower. The first recorded american death in military acation was in 1956. Nixon withdrew all military personnel by 1973. He also ended the draft, which is why America no longer has a strong military, We have the technology but lack the personnel.

E True.

A is false. The US used The Gulf of Tonkin incident to RAMP up their involvement, not as a starting point.

There are problems with B and D as well, both could be deemed false statements.

C and D are both false ... there still is no lasting independent government in South Vietnam, and the war was begun under Kennedy, he was the first to send in troops (not Johnson, who heavily escalated it, but didn't start it)
