I was induced. My son took 36 1/2 hours. I'm just curious about other women. I would like to hear from lucky ones who only took a few hours and those not as lucky.

My first wasnt the problem. My water broke and I went into labor with him at Wal-mart at 7 pm, and gave birth to him a minute before 1 am. With my second son, I went into labor at about 4 pm and had him at 8:06 that same evening. I figured 6 hours for the first, 4 for the second, this third time will be a breeze. I was induced EARLY in the morning and then he (FINALLY) had to be removed via c-sec the next day because he just would not come out!! So for him about 33 hours and the doctor had wanted to wait another day. Basically, I told him that he would never be in labor and if he ever had to experience it, he wouldnt want to go through an extra day of it eitehr..lol

I was induced at 2:30 am and in labor for 12 hours and 6 minutes. The longest 12 hours of my life. The bad thing is after all that time, I ended up having to have a C-Section so it was really wasted, painful time. I would not dialated past 7 and my son was faced the wrong way and the doc could not get him to rotate. So mine went rough, this time I will have a scheduled c-section to avoid all the pain. :)

First child was induced took about 8 hours. Second child wasn't induced only took 1 hr 45 min. I think I'm one of the lucky ones.

My first took 13 hours from the time my water broke until he was born, but I was in labor off and on for the month before hand. My second was in 4 hours from the start to the finish, my third was also in 4 hours from the start of heavy contractions to the delivery, but I had been feeling painful contractions off and on for about a week before hand. Now with the twins, I am going to have a C-seciton, so there goes all that great experience. Doesn't do my any good now, lol.

From the first contaction untill birth it was 12 hours exactly but I didnt go to the hospital until 5 hours before she was born (the first 7 hours were pretty easy and teh contractions didnt really hurt )and it took two pushes. With my second, my water broke at 3:45pm and he was born at 9:00pm with only two pushes.
Im sorry about your labor was so long. When labor is induced it does tend to take a little longer. i hope that your nest (if there is going to one) goes better

18 hours, but it was easy until the last 2 or so. I had mostly back labor, and when I called my doctor, she didn't believe I was in labor! No one checked me at the hospital until 7 p.m. because they didn't think I was "showing enough symptoms" All of a sudden I'm hooked up to machines, and they're calling my ob gyn to hurry up. I had him a couple hours later. Everyone apologized for putting me off until the last minute. I continuously said " I really think the baby is coming, my grandmother never had much pain, and she had three children." No one would listen, they just thought i was a hypochondriac new mom. I enjoy that my story is humorous and the pain was manageable. I feel bad for the women that have such a hard time.

My water actually broke with no contractions. So they induced me 6 hours after my water broke. Since my water broke, they only have like 24 hours to get the baby out so the induction really started everything going. He was out 12 hours after I was induced and 18 hours after my water broke.
I felt about an hour of the "full" contractions, which as I recall SUCKED, but it was well worth the pain and the epidural was fabulous!

I was one of the "lucky ones" I was induced at midnight, and delivered my son at 9:23 the next morning. That's less than 10 hours.

7 hours
contractions all back labor started at 6am i waited a hour to see if it was real called my mom by 7:15 she got to my place at 8am got to the hospital at 8:30 was 2cm and 100% effaced walked for 15 Min's was at 4cm got a enema and sat in the Whirlpool tub for 20 Min's went to 8cm started pushing at 1:30 son was born at 1:48. did all of this with out pain relive they used a suction cup because i would stop pushing during a contraction and he would slide back in. they cut me to help move it along. this was my first son

but i should mention i was not induced the only thing my ob did was stripped my membranes the day before i went into labor because i was only 1cm and 50% effaced for 2 weeks
