Speaking only for heterosexual pornography....

For some women, being worshipped and masturbated over by thousands of men is worth more than being exposed on camera and being called a whore or similar name every now and then. They often enjoy having sex as well, which is somewhat understandable. In fact, I assume the actual act of having sex for others to see is a kinky, fetish-like turn-on for many of them.

As for men, I think it's just about the sex with beautiful women. Most guys wouldn't mind getting paid to bang hot women.

i think it's for ego as well as easy$. but the ones who actually hit stardom in the bizz have a quality that makes them stand out among the rest. it's that extra something that also makes someone a star in the regular movies. eg. the pornsuperstar of the late 70's-80's, Seka, and shawna grant is another one that comes 2 mind. tracy lords is an unforgettable example with her combo of lolita/woman quality. ron jeremy was unique cuz he brought his own brand of humor to the genre.
