In the wild, average life span is around 35 years, put them in captivity, though, and they'll live over 50 for sure, maybe 60 or more. I put it like this, they live about as long as we do. Some people keel over from a stroke in their early 30's, others go on into 100+ years, rare, true, but it does happen. The longer we keep them in captivity, the more we'll know, but if you think about it, animal husbandry on the scale that we have it now, didn't come around until at least 50 years or so ago. Keeping animals in little cages, I'm sure shortens their life spans, but as zoos and other collectors have improved animal housing, and formulating foods that give animals all their nutritional needs........

the one in my bath lasted about 10 days, id say thats about the average for those damn dolphin wannabes
