A PhD in BA takes anywhere from four to eight years -- depending on your background and field.
Depending on the school, you can get a PhD in Finance, Accounting, Business & Public Policy, Organizatinal Behavior, Strategy, Operations Research, Business Statistics and Marketing.
Finance usually takes four or five years.
The top schools are extremely difficult to get into. Wharton gets about 350 applications per year for people wanting a PhD in finance. It accepts about four. Berkeley gets 250-300 and accepts the same number.
I got my PhD in Finance from Berkeley. Almost all of those in the program already had another graduate degree. Many already had a PhD in a different field (usually math or physics).
