My creative writing class was assigned to write a one-act play. I'm not quite sure how to write one though. The theme has to be a holiday, and there obviously has to be a conflict and resolution. Any ideas? suggestions? Does anyone know of a site where there are one-act plays? THANKS

When I had to write one, I used pencil and paper and that's how I wrote mine.. Seriously, though, what you're really asking is how do you get an idea about what to write about (I know you're not asking about format, since a one or two page perusal of any play in your local library will show you that). Unfortunately, since different people find story inspiration from different sources, there is no right answer that will be best for you. Just look around you and see what has happened in your own life, or in the life of a friend or relative who once told you an anecdote about something that happened during a holiday celebration or get-together. The best stories do come from real-life. Just make sure to change the names of the people and find other ways to fictionalize the story.

A one act play generally takes place in one setting and usually a very few actors---often only two.
I would look back at holiday experiences you have had and select one that included a conflict (argument, emergency, mean relatives) and how it was resolved.
Note: A resolution does NOT have to be perfect, just believable!
Agree with the above listed web site, I am just trying to help with the ideas!

you are able to write about any type of habit that they might have it really is conserving them from being what they need to be in life no matter if it really is an occupation or a sturdy determine or maybe only a sturdy individual. they're oftentimes on drugs, they could have low self-worth, they might have subject matters from adolescents to a nasty relationship. the probabilities are countless. Use your mind's eye! perhaps it really is someone that procrastinated and waited until eventually the most suitable minute to get their homework performed ;)

First come up with an idea, one you can build on and stretch it out into a story. Make yourself the actor and add emotion. Keep in mind your audience has to be entertained for it to be successful, so you must put your best foot forward. If you enjoy it so will others. Now just put it on paper.
