Cheaters can stop straying ---they just have to want to bad enough. We can all make a mistake, but if they cheat multiple times, then I would think they have a serious flaw. Many people who "cheat" are actually seeking something their mate is not providing -- like intimacy, both physical and emotional. It is a sign that they need to communicate to their partner clearly what the problem is BEFORE they stray. Cheating is only the result of the problem and not the answer to it. Often it is the straw that broke the camel's back and ends the relationship.

People always say once a cheater always a cheater. I believe that some of them can change and some of them can't. Just like how a crack addict can go to rehab and clean up themselves. A cheater can decide that he/she does not want to do it anymore. So yes, I do believe in change and not every cheater can change but there will be a select few.

A person can make a conscious effort to stop cheating. It depends if they want to or not. There are a lot of people in this world who have cheated once, felt badly about it, and have never done it again.
There are others who won't stop, but they say that they can't. If people can kick drugs and nicotine, which has serious consequences, cheaters can stop cheating.

Great question....

I think most people who cheat ( men and women ) are not serial cheaters... things just happen.

That said, I know there are some who are serial cheaters where it is part of there genetic make up.

I dunno. I read that on Yahoo this morning. Dude says cheaters cant change, but over time they will if they want to ever have a meaningful relationship. I say they will stop straying if they find someone who gives them good sex and can fufill their other emotional needs. Or they could do what we do and swing!!

I think they can, but it probably gets harder and harder the more times someone is unfaithful.

I really think this is one of those things that you have to ask God to remove. It is such a serious stronghold, and I think nearly impossible to "cold turkey" stop.

(...kind of like Y!Answers, now that I think about it...)
