that my 11 yo sister became a "woman". she's been complaining of having tummy aches for the past couple of weeks, and she's been more moody than she normally is, and for the past couple of days, she's stopped doing anthing, usually she's dancing or playing some kind of sport, but lately she just watches TV (and she hates TV). do you think she may have "started"?

Most of the time it isn't safe to "assume" anything in this world.

I don't really think this is something anyone other than your mother needs to be thinking about anyway. If she has it or will be getting it soon it is only her concern, and if she has something else bothering her or some other physical thing making her tired your mother will address it.

I don't mean to seem abrupt. Its just that I don't understand why you'd be on here and asking such a question about something that is your sister's business. It just strikes some of us as a little bit "busy body-ish" of you.

There's a chance something has happened to your sister that has nothing to do with what you've asked about, so - really - the matter shouldn't turn into "gossip".

Ok I know i may not be answering the question, but i will give you some advice. It may not apply because I think you might have learned your lesson but just in case:

There are two types of people on Y!A. There are askers and there are answerers. Most people keep some sense and answer questions most of the time, and ask a few (but not much.) These are answerers, and they give back to the Y!A community. Then there are askers, who ask way to many questions and never answer. They never give back to the community and it's easy to tell them apart from answerers. I give you this speech because only askers will be able to ask two questions in a row in one section. So this is why the point system was invented. This way you have to start helping other people with your answers or else you lose all your points, and it will be impossible for you to ask anymore. The point system was invented so all people will answer and keep a common system of knowldge intake for everyone.

Ask her. Tell her that you have gone through that already (if you have) and that you just want to help. Be nice and don't tease or she won't trust you. If you are nice she may trust you and tell you if she has. If she hasn't, ask her what has changed lately and if anything is wrong at school, with friends, etc. Help her out a little! Good Luck :)

You should ask her what is wrong. It could be her period or she could be going through some issues with friends at school. If you notice a change in a person close to you always let them know that they can talk to you. Hopefully it is only her period.

It's possible, but I wouldn't assume that is what is happening. Have your parents notice her change in behavior, and do they know why? I would ask them if they are worried about this. Drastic changes in behavior such as this one, can be a sign that something is really wrong like she is in a clinical depression.

It's possible. Girls are getting their periods younger these days, partly due to the hormones in milk and meat.

Have you asked her? I had an older sister, and I wish she would have been nicer to me and more helpful to me about these things, especially since I couldn't talk to my mom about it. Please be nice to her. It's a hard thing to go through!

Thanks!
