I own a Lexmark printer/scanner and I want to try to refill the ink cartridges instead of buying new ones. But how do I know what refill kits to buy?

The package in the store will say which printer model the kit is for. There are also web sites which sell kits, like the one on the link below.

You might also find a place that re-fills ink cartridges if you look in your local Yellow Pages.
One of these places has franchises all over Canada and the U.S.

Places like that usually have money-back guarantees too. They are more expensive than refilling the cartridge yourself, but if something goes wrong, at least you can get your money back.

Yes it is but in a school, no one has the time and practice to refill ink or toner. When it runs out, it needs to be replaced ASAP by anyone who can do it and so full cartridges are used in schools although I do agree that with a little sacrifice in uptime, refilling could save a school tons of money and make sure none of that plastic ends up in landfills. It would require a special person who has learned how to refill though because depending on the cartridge, it can be tricky and is definitely very messy if rushed.

Keep in mind that it is best to get new cartridges, in my opinion. However, if you still want to go that route, you will need the part number of the original ink cartridges, listed on the ink cartridges themselves. Then go to a store that sells ink refill kits, and use that part number. The store representative can help from there.

I checked out prices at different sites and stores. The refills for black were somewhere in the 14 or 15 dollar. The color was near 18 dollars. I stopped in a WalMart the other day and the Hp
that I have had original (Not refill) at
$11 for Black and $15 for color.
You choose. I hear that refills have
ink that has Ph. problems with it.
Stick with the original.

Any one of them should work. If you can find one that says it's specifically compatible with Lexmark, but that one.
You should only need one kit for color and one for black and white.
Depending on how your cartridge is made, you may or may not have sucess with a refill kit.

Look on the package of the refill kit, it will say which models are supported. They usually support most (if not all) printers.

Try ezeinks.co.uk. Their ink is manufactured to ISO 9001 standard and uses 0.2 microns filtered ink. They are cheap!
