Depending on your tendency to tan, yes. If you have extremely fair skin and find it difficult to tan, try a smaller SPF (like Austrailian Gold 6) which is still decently strong. If you tend to tan well and in a short amount of time without burning, an SPF of 15 is excellent when you feel you'll be laying out or doing outdoors activities for long periods of time.

You can get a tan with SPF 55. It doesn't matter if it's 15 or 55.....tanning lotions will not protect your skin all day.

yes but you can also get burnt. its recommended to use no less than 45spf. i used safe tanning banna boat tanning lotion. it worked great.
