I've been watching Fox News and reading the Weekly Standard this week. All reports coming out of Iraq are excellent. It was even safe enough for McCain to visit! The surge is clearly working, and we should have it all cleaned up by next month. We'd have it done a lot sooner, if our guys had free-rein to kill all the varmints and troublemakers, though. That's why you send an army: to kill people!
So why are those Shia protesting? Ingrates, that's what I say. All kinds of rioting, protesting, and ugly eyeball nonsense over there. They oughta be on their knees and thanking the good Lord above for our President Bush. Just like those kids in "Jesus Camp"! We oughta send them some cardboard cut-outs of good ol' W. Then they could pray and show thanks and say "Oh Lord Bush, thou art my master. COMMAND me!" That would be pretty grateful.
I don't know how many "Mohammad-jihad-dirka-dirkas" that translates to in their language, but someone will figure it out.

Well, your first problem is that you are getting your news from FOX. That is a biased station. Read the papers, watch other news programs and do some research. It's only safe for McCain to go into one small portion of the country. The country is unstable and is in civil war. What would you think if they came over here for no reason, bombed us to oblivion and then wanted to leave us in the middle of a civil war?

the ingrates or people have a tough time seeing more than a few feet in front of them. They don't care much what some man across the world says while he sends his armies. They just know they're dying, and they don't have water, food, jobs, or security. They know the world around them not the one in your head. and judge by conditions and action. you're promises this and that but it didn't go like this till you came. at the least you've proven yourself a bumbling hero who got people killed if not an invader. and that is what they call human understanding.

You've been watching Fox News and reading the Weekly Standard? There's your problem. The Iraqis aren't grateful because they're dying at a greater rate than they were under Saddam. They preferred the devil they knew then over the devil they know now.

Because you killed half a million of them in the process, and completely ruined the country as well.
Iraq is far worse off now than it was during Saddam, at least then people could walk outside in Baghdad without the fear of being blown up.

They were celebrating to start with (when the statue of Saddam came down) which was becasue we saved them from their dictator...but it was after we were fighting them, destroying their towns and killing innocent people that they became annoyed. families have been teared apart...i think they prefered life before all of this happened. however, i reckon once the war is over and everyone has moved on, they'll be grateful for what we did out there.

You're kidding right? Because of us, they are in a full scale civil war! They are fleeing the country like Jews outta Egypt. What exactly did we have them from? Scary weapons that don't really exist?

LOL !! and yes you have done one more thing........you have made them miss Saddam and regret the downfall of his regime.....isn't a miracle that iraqis are missing Saddam now??? They should be thankful to "Lord Bush" for making them realize that their previous ruler was a better person then the present one !

The cultural differences between Americans and Iraqis are incredibly disparate. Rather than questions why they are reacting differently than you would expect, try to put yourself in their shoes. For instance, I came across this, http://www.madrasas.info/index.html, which discusses the Islamic education process. It is no wonder why they are not willing to understand the help that we are trying to offer.

they just put too much value on little things like the lights and water being on 24/7 and not having bodies in the street every morning. they just can't see the big picture, Halliburton is making a bloody fortune.
