Yes you do because you are a United States Citizen under the jurisdiction of the 10 square mile area known as Washington D.C. You have been unfairly put under duress by the "ignorance" of your parents and the people of this country who have impressed upon you with a birth certificate and a social security card. This means that you are no longer a [u]nited State citizen of "America!" You are no longer a sovereign of the state you were born in. You are now a naturalized citizen under corporate law and punishable by the "tax code" of centralized power called Washington D.C! My parents did the same injustice to me.
The 13th,14th and 15th Amendments through the "involuntary servitude" clause put the power of the several states into the hands of a centralized authority. The March 9th, 1933 "Banking Act" codified our "involuntary servitude" with the Birth Certificate and Social Security Card as mentioned above. The December 23, 1913 Federal Reserve Act which has not been constitutionaly ratified privatized our money into the hands of international bankers. If you don't believe me, pick up the phone book and look under government, you will not find it there. However, you will find it in the Yellow Pages right next to Federal Express. It is no more Federal than the private companies listed there! The IRS is illegal and they know it. The IRS has been able to get away with this scam because people on faith and ignorance believe it to be a government institution. It is not! You don't believe me? Look on the bottom of your tax form or in the tax code where it says that to pay taxes is purely "Voluntary!"

Ask for duplicate copies of any W2s and file - post marked before 4/16. Your folks will most likely claim you as a dependent - so you might not get a refund, but you still have to file.

Start with good habits. You do not have to file a return but when you get all you papers do so, you will not be fined but get your money back from the Govt it is your money. As much as we hate to file taxes etc just do it and then you will be in the groove for when you have to.

You aren't required to file, but if anything was withheld for federal income tax, you won't get it back if you don't file. Don't worry about the 4/17 deadline - since you have money coming back, you'd still get it if you filed after that.

Yes, and you need to, because if you were under 18 for all last year you are probably exempt and will get back everything paid in - even if your parents do claim you, it doesn't matter if you are a minor. This is what my accountant told me about our teenage son when he did our taxes.

No. Your income needs to be above 5150 (Standard deduction) + 3300 (exemption) = $8450 for you to file. But you can do it for a refund. if you find your W2s

I don't think you have to file if you make under like $15K, so check the IRS website. In fact, here is the site:

http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96623,00.html

I have not read it but it pertains to students & is titled "Do I have to File?" so I think its just what you are looking for.
