Yes, Clinton was impeached. The impeachment process does not mean that he was removed from office. They voted to impeach him, but there were not enough votes to actually remove him from office.
The Constitution calls for the impeachment process (if there are a sufficient number of votes) to go forward, then there is a vote for removal. He was not removed from office, but he was the second president to be impeached.

The impeachment of a government official is similar to an indictment of a grand jury. It allows the prosecutor to then charge the defendent and take them to trial.
The House of Representatives impeached Clinton on 2 charges - lying under oath and obstruction of justice.
Per the Constitution, the trial is held in the Senate, where Clinton was found not guilty of those charges.
Ergo, he was impeached, but not convicted or removed.
Nixon was not impeached - he resigned before the process could even begin.
The only other impeached president was Andrew Johnson. He also was acquitted of the charges.
Because your teacher is so wrong, you might want to take anything he says regarding politics and current events with a lot of skepticism.

Your teacher is an idiot. Clinton was impeached (charged & tried) but NOT CONVICTED of the charges put to him.
Impeachment is the term to describe the charging and trial of an elected official - NOT that official's conviction or removal from office.

You are correct. The senate impeached him. But, the house didn't remove him from office. There is a process that must be followed for him to be removed from office.

Has to pass in both houses.
Impeachment in the United States is an expressed power of the legislature which allows for formal charges to be brought against a high official of government for conduct committed in office. The actual trial on those charges, and subsequent removal of an official on conviction on those charges is separate from the act of impeachment itself: impeachment is analogous to indictment in regular court proceedings, trial by the other house is analogous to the trial before judge and jury in regular courts. Typically, the lower house of the legislature will impeach the official and the upper house will conduct the trial.
At the Federal level, the House of Representatives has the sole power of impeaching the President, Vice President and all other civil officers of the United States. Officials can be impeached for: "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." The United States Senate has the sole power to try all impeachments. The removal of impeached officials is automatic upon conviction in the Senate.
Impeachment can also occur at the state level; state legislatures can impeach state officials, including governors, according to their respective constitutions.
