C peasants and serfs were about 80% of the population. This is almost always the case in every society. The royals were less than .1% of the population. Even when you include all of the nobility it was less than 4-5%. Intelligentsia is likewise about 3-4%; merchant class was growing but still quite small, maybe 10-12%. That leaves the bulk of the population, as in any society, the serfs, the poor, the farmers, the down-trodden.
