First for all you have to check your electrical connectivity into ur pc. Like our friend said before, once u switch on ur pc check out ur CPU fan/LED or anything that you understand your pc is running/switch on with electric power.
If your fan/LED/etc did wont work so that's mean no electrical connectivity so maybe your power supply/motherboard failure to working.
If your fan/LED/etc is working/running but still got no signal in ur monitor, maybe your motherboard/VGA/Memory got a problem but your power supply is in good condition.
However, if your CPU/LED/motherboard is working can be switch on better you double check by using another monitor where u can double confirm that your monitor got a problem.
Thanxs.

Unfortunately with computers, there is seldom a quick and easy solution.
How old is the computer and the monitor? Are you sure the monitors cables are firmly connected to the back of the monitor itself and to the back of the computer?
Did the computer make any "beeping" sounds when you turned it on? Beeping sounds are the computers way of talking to you, they are codes that tell us if there is something wrong.
Put the windows cd into the cd drive and start the computer.
You may be able to get it to start this way.
It could be the monitor itself has burned out -- connect it to another computer and see if it comes on, if it does you know the monitor is not the problem.
From this point on, will require opening up the computer case and removing components from the inside -- if you have never done this before and are uncomfortable opening up your computer -- DONT DO IT. Take it to a shop or ask a friend that knows what they're doing to help you.
If you are ok opening up the computer, the things we are going to need to check will be the video card and the memory sticks.
If you dont know what these things are -- STOP and ask someone that knows to help you.
Also make sure you a wearing an anti static wrist strap and or are properly grounded before working inside your computer case - static can and will damage components.
Video Card - make sure it is properly inserted, if its not, put it in and restart computer. if this didnt fix the problem, then remove your video card and insert it into a different slot or better yet ,insert one that you know works -
restart the computer. IF this fixes the problem, youve had a bad video card.
if that didnt work, next thing to check is your memory sticks.
If you have more than one stick of memory - remove only one of them and restart the computer.
If that didnt fix it, put the one you just took out, back into the computer and remove the other one - restart the computer.
IF switching the memory sticks didnt fix the problem, you may have a bad mother board and thats not a good thing.
I just went thru this problem myself and so sadly had to replace my board.
There is also the possibility that the Bios settings got scrambled. Try removing the button battery from the motherboard and keep the computer off for about 1/2hr.
Replace the battery and turn the computer on.
There is a computer forum like this place, where people ask questions and get answers I highly recommend.
www.virtualdr.com
Good luck to you - I know I feel lost when my computer isnt working

NO lights with anything and NO green light on the monitor indicates maybe you blew a fuse. Plug the computer into another elect socket. You may have also had a power surge which cooked your power supply and/or other computer parts. If it is JUST the power supply, that is not a very expensive part to fix, probably about $50 or so.
Also make sure no one turned the switch in the back of the computer, that some of them have. Ditto for the cords being plugged in and check to see if your surge supressor has been turned off, also.

I had this problem about a month ago with my laptop. At first I thought I was kinda funny when I heard my computer beep loudly and nothing came on, until my fiance (an IT tech) freaked out. If you are hearing beeps, click on this link which will help you determine what may be causing your problem:
http://www.computerpoweruser.com/editorial/article.asp?article=articles/archive/u0806/44r06/44r06.asp&guid=
This page is very technical, so if you do not understand some of the terminology, do a google search.
Hope this helps.

If the lamp that shows hard drive activity flickers once then nothing happens it could be your graphics card. If it never flickers but the power lamp is on then your problem could be any one of a hundred things. Start by removing all peripherals

Are any of the fans running? Also, are there any beeps shortly after you turn the power on?
If you cannot figure it out, I suggest taking it to a professional to have them look at it.
