I have a presentation to make in one week for my AS English Literature class. I've read the novel twice but I still need some more ideas. Any help would be great.

What I really need help with is the characterisation of John Barton. If anyone knows anything in specific that would be helpful. Oh, and Puppylover, thank you so much for your help *she said sarcastically* that's what I checked before I came here and google is useless. Any other solutions are greatly appreciated.

Mrs. Gaskell was a popular writer of her day, but is more famed today because of her friendship with Charlotte Bronte and her biography of CB. Her writing doesn't stand up to that of the Bronte sisters. We are looking at it from our viewpoint in time, which compares her to women who had more talent.
