Computer, Internet, fax, copier, printer. File Folders, Filing cabinet, desk, chairs, phones... I am looking around the office that is what you need to get it started...
Coffee machine to make it livable.
Gee so many people hate lawyers until they need one. I work for an attorney who is nice, and works hard for his clients. Many of whom do not pay when they are allowed to set up payments. He does a lot to help some people who find themselves in need of an attorney, with out the funds to pay one on the spot. There are cases where their stuff has to be filed then, so he is only hoping that he will get paid for the work he has done. Other cases the work is done, and he waits for full payment before he will file the paperwork for court. Non the same, he gets stuck with some clients running up a bill and not paying, so he gets shafted. Or the client... they know who they are...that do not do what they need to, and at that point the Attorney can not longer be of good service to his client... Haters.

A copier is essential. Also, you should subscribe to a computer program called Lexus, which allows you access to most, if not all, of the states' codes and cases, and their updates. That way you don't have to either spend a fortune on law books or spend all day in the library. Of course, you'll also need all the usual office supplies, files, furniture, etc.
