There are no "categories" where virii are stored and they do not have names that announce, "I am a virus", any more than criminals wear Tshirts that say, "I just robbed a bank." Rather, many are polymorphic and change locations and even their name to avoid detection by antivirus software. Virii are hidden in systems folders or even hidden in antivirus detection software. Many virii disable antivirus software, or give false popups. The best way to rid your computer of virii is to delete the virus magnets in your computer, that is software made by Microsoft. Instead, get open source software, such as www.kubuntu.org that does not attract the 114,000 virii that are attracted to Microsoft products.
Do not delete JUST your .ini files, delete your entire operating system or leave your .ini files alone.

That is not a virus. It holds information about the current view of the folder you are in. If you have it set to display a preview thumbnail, you will have a desktop.ini file in that folder. It's fine to leave it there.

If you are seeing the .ini extension, you should open a folder and go to tools/folder options then view. Turn on the hide files extensions for known types button. If you can see all the extensions it is very easy to accidentally change one of them. This can prevent correct programme operation, and if it happens to a system file it can stop the system. Turn them visible when required, back again when not.

No. Those are system files and determine how the folder they occupy will be used by the system. Definitely not viruses.

They're just text files; open them with Notepad if you're curious, but don't make any changes to them.
