Positive. Because he was a revolutionary who was a great fighter, AND he refused to be a politician (as opposed to Castro.)
Negative. Because he paved the way for Castro.

A higher-profile thug. Thugs contribute negatively to society in general.

Guevara was a revolutionary who started out with good intentions, but as usually happens -became powerful and let the power go to his head. He then became a ruthless thug, killing all who disagreed with him. Eventually he was executed.

He was a brilliant tactician. If you read at all about how he and Castro usurped the Battista regime, it was very well executed (no pun intended).

Outside of that, he was just another communist rebel. That would be a "positive" for communist sympathizers and a "negative" for those who are against communism, I suppose.
