A woman is more likely to be raped, abused, murdered by a man that she knows...and while I do agree that all crimes should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, it is a woman's responsibility to make smart choices.
Do not get involved with men who are violent, verbally or physically. You can normally spot them a mile away! Women need to get jobs and education so that they can support themselves instead of relying on these losers. And for crying out loud - get on birth control and stay on it!!!!
Have you heard of preventative medicine? Well there are steps you can take to make sure that you can help prevent violence against you.
If a man takes you out to dinner and yells or demeans the waitress, how long before it's your turn babe?
If a man cannot have a 5 min conversation without using 4 letter words everywhere, is he worth your time?
How does he treat his mother?
Does his family like him?
Does he seem to have problems with everyone at work?
Does he make sexist comments?
Does he not want you to work? Or have friends?
People will take advantage of you if they can. That is human nature. It is your job to do the best you can to make sure they CAN'T.
I am for equal rights (equal pay) as much as the next woman, but I don't put myself in a position to be dependent on ANYONE and expect them to treat me equally. That's just life! I am careful of the company I keep, you are only as strong as your weakest link. I have dumped more men than I can remember for blowing up at a poor waitress and for being disrespectful of their parents.
A grown woman (or anyone really) needs to protect herself/themselves and accept responsibility for herself/himself. If you date or marry a violent man you are going to get abused, period.
If women make smarter choices, violence against women will go down, because the women will not be there with that potentially abusive partner. Find a geek and leave BamBam alone!!!! ;-)

What undenable proof do you have that there are more crimes against women than men in the USA? If a black man said, "there is more racism against blacks than any other race", he'd/she'd be asked to logically show proof before continuing the argument. Otherwise they'd be furiously debating about an issue that wasn't factual to begin with.
There are millions of crimes against humanity in general. Every group has people in it who feel that they have the most problems, the most pain, because they don't want to truly see and understand other peoples issues. They're too concerned with their own, and dramatize it. The bottom line is, crime against people in general needs to stop.

KoreaGuy is right men make up the biggest number of victims of violent crimes. The US just has more crime or possible more freedom to report crime, some countries could not care less if a crime has been committed against man or woman therefore many crimes go unreported and unpunished. Some countries do not even keep statistics.....

I don't think the increase in crimes correlates with the greater rights afforded to women in the USA. In other countries where women have much fewer rights, the crimes committed against them by family members and others are high, perhaps to a higher degree than in the U.S..
That is because in countries where women are more oppressed and silenced, people discourage women from speaking out when they are raped or abused. The women are made to feel that it is their own fault many times.

"Yes. We do need to protect women more. Men need to realize that violence against women is never OK."
How exactly should we protect women more? The males I know, even at a teenage age, realize pretty well that violence of all kinds is wrong, especially violence against women (because we are simply not regarded as equal in all aspects).
Generalizations are constantly decried as awful and inaccurate- this one is no different.
As KoreaGuy noted, more crimes are committed against MEN, not against women. A cursory glance at national statistics will prove this.

Your premise is false. In the USA, crimes are not increasing against women, or men: there has been a steady decrease in both, according to FBI stats. Crime against men is still more prevalent than crime against women. (Although men are more often the perpetrators than women.)

As a man, I have all the rights as a citizen of the United States.Still some idiot can rob me or shoot me.What has that to do with rights? There is always going to be bad people that will ignore the law.It is our duty to see they are caught and punished.

The rights are protected and it may be that the USA is actually recording complaints filed by women. Too many countries don't see wife battery as a crime and so it is not reported. To report something is to acknowledge it exists.

It's not that there are more crimes against women. It's that more women are now reporting it. We're just now seeing what's really happening to women.
In the past, women were ashamed to report it because they took on the blame.
Misogynistic men are angry because they can't just beat women in private anymore. This is another reason why there are so many angry men against "women's rights movements".
