When i was in London i was surprised to see a Scottish man in a traditional skirt. I thought that it's a kind of stereotype and it seemed funny for me. Do they really wear them? I have never been to Scotland.

Yes they do still wear skirts in Scotland. Can anyone guess what they wear under them?

First of all, it's a kilt, not a skirt. Secondly, only during special occasions. I have a Scottish friend who's worn one to weddings and large Scottish family getogethers, but he's never just worn it when we go bowling or anything.

No, but men wear kilts in Scotland. Usually only for formal events.

Yes, maam. It is the traditional outfit for Scottish men - comes from the Clans they belong to (clans are like groups that form Scotland).

Take a trip to Scotland sometime, you'll thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere, the people, the scenery, the Scottish, in one word ( it'll help you see that England is the truly only the 'younger' brother in the British Isles - in spite of their pumped-up beliefs!)

More as a formal thing, like parades in the military.
I don't think the average scotsman usually wears them anymore.
