In YOUR opinion, should the legal drinking age be 18? Why do you think this?

I think there should be an exception is all. I think the legal age of 21 is fine as it is. However, if you are in the military, it should be 18. As stated above, if you can be expected to die while protecting our country than you can deserve to have a drink.

People who are 21 cannot contain themselves when they drink, what makes you think an 18 year old is gonna have the brains to contain themselves. It will only mean more deaths on the highways. I remember when Wyoming's drinking age was 19 (1984) and all the states were already 21. The Government threatened to take away millions of dollars in road repair if Wyoming did not up the age. They did. I was a bartender at that time and it literally changed over night. And so did the DUIs and car accidents.
I know a lot of underage kids drink, but making it legal is not going to solve anything. Good poll by the way.

This seems like a fun question..i am 19 and i dont not think that the age should be lowered to 18 just because from experience from others i do not think that 18 years olds are mature enough let alone chooseing the right path..although when ur 21 you coudl still not be mature enough...even though i like to drink..i think it should still stay the same age(21) just because i think usually people are more mature by that age

Lets be honest, whats the real difference, if it's 18 or 21 or even 30, every teenager drinks weather its legal or not.

It used to be 18 when I was a kid. We had no business drinking (and then driving) at that immature, inexperienced age. Leave it at 21.

And just for the record, I don't think 18 year olds should be getting married, voting, or fighting in wars either. They are children. Many 18 year olds are still in High School for heaven's sake. Let children be children. There is plenty of time for adult decisions and adult responsibilities at age 21 and older.

That has always been a tough question for me.
On the 1 hand we live in a country where 18yr olds are allowed to vote, and are old enough to join the military and die for this country,so it would seem fitting to be able to drink legally as well.
Then there are all the 18yr olds I see around who are so immature that it is frightening to think of them drinking....

NO! And I think this because I remember what it was like when I was 18 and going to clubs!

I think the legal driving age should be upped.

Legal age should be 18 simply because if a person is old enough to marry, fight in a war, die for our freedom, they should be able to drink.

Might as well lower the drinking age, so many do it anyway. Maybe if it were legal to drink, it wouldn't be so tempting to do it.

Sure, it was when I was coming of age, in the 70's then MADD got hold of it and boom 21 everwhere, I figure if you can get sent to war at 18, you ought to be able to buy a drink....
