I came to the same conclusion.I downloaded basic,wasn't going to pay for pro,and my systems started sending warnings and building firewalls etc. However having loaded it I tried to view and download but my firewall wouldn't let it in.The Lime wire help line said lower your firewall defences but I was reluctant to do that as Some one else had said they were badly infected.from using Limewire.I decided not to bother and although I still have it I don't use it.

yeah but if you got a good interent security software package then you got nothin to worry about really.

From what I've heard, it's also a good way to get your computer infected with viruses!

just download limewire pro zip from the free version. problem solved!

No it doesn't , but they do have software in there that will ask you to go pro all the time...it's not really spyware per say. Just bothersome.
