All my life I've tested above average (in the 127-130 range) on IQ tests. But I'm slightly gullible! Can a person be both smart and naive at the same time? And is it bad to be naive?

There is a difference between - (intellectual) - academic intelligence and "emotional intelligence."

The first applies to knowledge. The latter applies to wisdom.

Yes u can have book sense without street-knowledge.
Are you can have common sense without book sense. Everyone starts off naive but learn from your experiences and watch other's experiences and learn from theirs as well.

Try very hard 2 be a well-rounded person, it does you no good too have book knowledge but don't no how 2 apply it.
Read a lot, be around different cultures and environments, step outside your world and into someone elses and see what u learn from it .
Don't be afraid 2 make mistakes and ask questions about things u r not familiar with it makes u not only book smart but street smart and common sense smart. That means less gullible!

Yes. I wouldn't put too much credence on IQ tests. There several different types of intellegence.
People want to believe others are nice and good. But many times we find out otherwise through experience.
Sometimes all you can do is chalk it up to experience and become more decerning about the people you become close to or allow to come into your life.
And yes being naive can be detrimental to your pocketbook and your person.

No matter how old you get you can still be gullible and naive. You say your smart.....you'll see that as you experience life and people that you start to learn things that will make you less of both................common sense is also something that alot of people lack as well..........Be glad your smart, I'd like to have your problem any day.........could you spare some brains? Don't sweat the small stuff...........MLJ

JOIN THE CLUB. I think people with above average intelligence are thinking outside the box to begin with most often. When you are not so influenced by the world and are mostly thinking in abstract ways you are less likely to guard yourself and i truly believe being less gullible is a defense mechanism that people use when they feel inadequate.

IQ measures your ability to learn, not how much you actually know (you want an aptitude test for that).

Being smart means you can follow a logical progression to it's natural conclusion. Harming others often has no logical basis so you would not see the pattern until too late.

Being gullible isn't quite the same as being naive. It just means that you trust other people when they tell you something. If being trusting makes you naive, I must be a genius. *laughs*

Usually people who are "book smart" so to speak have no commom sense and I know plenty of people who are like that. I don't know if its a proven fact or anything like that, I've just heard it. Anyway, its not a bad thing to be naive. You may outgrow it. One last thing, not all guys think its cute, they call you dumb behind your back so don't overdo it for attention

Yes, I am the same way. I am pretty gullible, but often just too literal. It really takes the fun out of things sometimes.

Yes they can be. My daughter is AG (Academically Gifted)and can memorize anything she hears or reads in a Book. But that child who is 22 now, does not have a lick of common sense.
