The idea of being alone is sometimes more frightening (or so you think at the time). I used to think that my ex would suddenly change one day and realize all the bad stuff he did and feel sorry. I imagined a big, tearful apology and him saying "I was so wrong to hurt you, I love you, etc.." It never happened. I was in love with a part of him that I thought I saw when I met him. I concentrated on that little thing about him and blew it up and fooled myself into believing he was someone who he really wasn't. It's a dependency issue on my part.

I don't know.....My mother still loved my step-father she said, after all he did too her. And he was horrible, I don't understand it. I"ll tell you what though, I sure didn't love him!
