Why is the demise of religion necessary?

We as Liberals must fight it and end it. Before it ends us !

Religions are faith based organizations.

Definition of faith: Belief with no logical evidence or proof.

I've answered this a few times in other threads. To sum it up, religion is organized ignorance.

I hope people are paying attention. Here is a clear example of the socialist / liberal connection. The first step to establishing a socialist government is to outlaw religion. Why? Because religion holds God above the government. God is the final moral authority. God gives man commandments and a clear division between right and wrong.

Socialism has the government as the highest moral authority. In other words, the government can do what every it wants. If the government finds that the disabled are a drain on resources it will euthanize them. If it wants to displace thousands of people from their homes, it simply does. If they want to confine people to a specific area they just do it. There is no one to appeal to.

This socialist ideology is incompatible with America. Here, the power to govern comes from the Creator (God) directly to the people. They in turn, lend it to the government on Election Day. That also makes every man and woman equally valuable. That allows us to have personal private property that cannot be taken away without due process and just compensation.

That is why, to liberal people, the demise of religion is necessary. Most are useful idiots of the socialists. Most probably don't realize that they are slowly digging the grave of their own freedom.

Most liberals are not atheists. Get over it.

And religion isn't going anywhere. Every person--and every society--have to have ethical/moral belif systems to provide a framework for personal behavior and social interaction. And that's what a religion is and does (true whether you are a "believer" or not).

So we are going to have religion--its a part of being human. And since neither the fringe atheists nor the right-wing extremists are going to get their way, we will continue to have a variety of religious beliefs--which is as it should be.

The demise of religion is NOT necessary...nor is it even possible. People will always seek some type of structure that demonstrates their spiritual beliefs. Whether it is Christianity, paganism, wicca, New Age, Unitarianism, Scientology, environmentalism, etc., religion will always exist. You can't fight it without ending us.

I am a liberal leaning centrist. Perhaps I am not liberal enough but I disagree with you. Religion is necessary for some people. I for one am a religious person. If you do not wish to participate in religion or have no religious convictions it is your right. Leave the rest of us out of it.

The demise of religion has always been important for dictators. A godless hopeless populace is much more easy to manipulate. After all...you don't deserve any rights...the governemnt is supreme and they decide what you have earned.

Some people think they need the structure of religion. They do not, but the prevailing thought is quite strong.

Spirituality is very important and quite different from religion. People are constantly getting them confused.
