Any specific programme that you loath is what I'm after rather than just saying soaps generally for example.

I can't stand Masterchef. Two pious div chefs being far too judgemental of people who themselves treat making food like brain surgery and cry into their custard if they lose.

Those programmes looking for a new lead for a musical. Connie Fisher in the Maria thing was superb but to follow up with the Joseph one has devalued the whole exercise. The tears from all those blokes is so embarrasing. On the other side we have the Grease search for a star. This one is even worse.

It's all bad! I totally agree with the person who said that when you actually find something worth watching, it is a real gem. But it is like looking for a needle in a haystack!
Was is better 20 years ago? Or 30? I still have fond memories of old programmes, especially the comedies ... but do they just stick out because they were gems too?
Whatever, I especially hate the way contemporary t.v. is going when it comes to news coverage (a lot of O.T.T. sensationalism) and reality shows (get a life!) Watching the telly was originally supposed to be a form of affordable relaxation; a way to be entertained and amused or educated. What we get now is depression, fear and/or hate. Please let me include those horrible programmes that aim to try to make us more dissatisfied with our own lives and to envy others ....
We were always warned that watching too much telly led to a subtle form of brainwashing. The only thing that has changed there is that it is more mindless than ever, and far from subtle!
The only things I watch these days are a good whodunnit mini-series, or low key sports coverage (e.g. I really enjoyed watching the swimming championships from the Melbourne Games recently; I have never been into watching swimming before so it came as a surprise just how amazing those guys are.)

Any reality tv show, except The Apprentice. All the antique shows, such as cash in the atic, bargin hunt, except when David dickinson did it who was excellent, now Tim wannacot presents it. I cant stand the bloke. I also love love watching live football and i'm getting fed up with the bbc's bias towards Man Utd, every round of the fa cup featured man utd live on the tv. Which is rich when Sir Alex ferguson refused to be interviewed by the bbc, Also property shows where 99.99% of people on the show live in the south east of england and can afford to buy houses in france, spain or anywhere else.

There should be more comsumer shows like watchdog. Also I love snooker but most of the tournaments are only available on sky.

Most all tv programmes to be honest starting with news programmes through to TV chefs.

Eastenders, Emmerdale and Coronation street all should be banished.

Only two worth viewing is Dr Who and Life on Mars.

Please bring back Alan Tichmarsh as gardeners world has also been deceminated by the over educated txats.

Get all the the jews off of the TV as it is crammed with them. They are a only interested in making a quick buck and not quality TV. Even the ads are full of jewish actors. Do other actors get a look in these days.

A new TV channel named Blank Canvas would be good.

Agree with your other contributors. I'd like to add the endless stream of "Top 100 ..... of All Time" shows. They might be more tolerable if they just showed the clips without the interminable interruptions from a load of non-entities putting their two-pennyworth in. Even so, it's just the laziest way of filling air time.
Where's the sort of talent and creativity today that can match the output of British playwrights such as Dennis Potter, Jack Rosenthal, Colin Welland who produced innovative, intelligent and stimulating new plays that made the licence fee justified?
The television execs are not only scraping the bottom of the barrel with the dumbed-down dross they produce to insult our intelligence, they're now scraping UNDERNEATH it.
I never realised it until now, but I think the best thing on my TV these days is the dust!

Way too much reality-contest-celebrity-phone vote nonsense for my taste. Anything involving people (celebs or normal folk) being judged for dancing, singing, baton twirling, socially interacting in a sealed house, eating bugs, and cooking for derisory fools should be soundly knocked on the head for a while. It's just a continuous barrage of tears, tantrums and criticism - and most ordinary people's lives have enough of those in them without being forced to watch it to the exteme on TV. Phew! I had a little rant there but I feel better now.

Sorry - you wanted some specifics...Big Brother in particular. I agree with you on Masterchef and what's that dreadful one about the women in Marbella? Nightmare.

What's happened to paying someone to write something with a decent plot? Why do we have to settle for "cheap TV" when many of us pay out a lot of money on Sky etc.

I don't have a telly. But I was told I won't be missing much anyway.

The last time I watched a soap was when Kylie Minogue ran off with Dirty Den.

With you about Masterchef, also am nuts against all cookery progs, utter waste of time, esp those competitive ones. Saturday mornings are ruined by them.
Next on crud list is secondhand tat being auctioned with daft enthusiasm by duff but highly-paid tv presenters to inane repetitive "musical" accompaniment.
After that is late night progs that promise a lot but deliver zilch for adults.
Godslot stuff is also very annoying, Sundays. Spoilt Easter telly this year.
Thanks for your question, I needed that!

i have watched the first 3 episodes of real Blood season 3 on-line! no longer very inspired with them notwithstanding. they're quite boring to be uncomplicated. And that's coming from a die-complicated fan of the television coach AND the books. you want to entice close what's a sturdy coach to computer screen? residing house. marvelous coach! Season 6 has in basic terms ended on Sky1 yet there are reruns on 3e, Sky2, Hallmark, Channel 5 and 5 u . s .. different sturdy shows - lost, the sturdy spouse, Bones, Fringe, V, Flash ahead.

Got to be The Bold and The Beautiful..not only do they have the most unbelievable story lines but the worst actors around in a long time. It`s a shame it spreads to other countries, just more brain contamination the values of the female characters on the show are that of a slime bucket in designer clothing.
