I am interested in publishing a children's book. Is anyone familiar with Lulu self publishing (www.lulu.com)? Does anyone know of others?

Lulu is near the top end in quality when it comes to POD's (Print on Demand), but you have to understand they will not edit your work, what you put up is what you get. It will then be up to you to market and promote the book as well.

They do have a nice web page Store Front tool that allows you to sell your book on line and they have a good connection to Amazon for other online opportunities.

POD publishing is where you go when you know you have the quality but traditional houses have turned you down.

Self publishing? Both Barnes and Noble and Borders books have a publishing site on their web sites. Amazon does too. Createspace is easy to use, but takes putzing to get the cover art loaded.

Lulu.com has some upload issues, it is not an easy software to work with.

I feel like a tape recorder but why self publish your own book when you can find a lot of publishers out there willing to publish your book. It won't cost you anything, as with all POD, self publishing you'll have to spend a lot of money promoting your book. I'd suggest that you check out the 2007 Writers Market which is also available on line for links and information on traditional publishers. Good luck

There are also a few print-on-demand companies that work pretty well.
www.authorhouse.com
www.xlibris.com
www.iuniverse.com

You can look into those as well. I know AuthorHouse well and their books turn out nice and they have wide distribution.
Hope this helps!
