because the people who know the "least" have a tendency to over power their stupidity by pointing it out as MUCH as possible!! It's their way of attempting to hide the fact that they don't know what the hell their talking about (my boyfriend has a friend who does that, and if he doesn't know the answer to something he makes up the most B.S. stories I've ever heard, and attempts to convince the people giving the correct answer that they are wrong)
my favorite are people who respond to a yahoo answer with the answer "i don't know" well if you DON'T know we don't want to know that, we only want the answer if you DO know. it's one thing to type I don't know in a sentence while answering the question but to answer with ONLY "i don't know" is a waste of space to me.

Two reasons. One, is because they want attention. Two, is because they really believe in what they're saying, even when they really don't have a clue. Oh, I'm sure there are more reasons, and I'm sure that several people will give you some good ones...and bad ones.
