This is what is so frustrating about the arrogant little ponce, He has the potential to be the best, but he needs to learn to stay on his feet. Granted, this year he is not going down as easily as he used to, but I think this is only due to the fact that the whole Rooney incident at the world cup made him a national hate figure in England, so I believe that he is trying to play the game in the sporting way it should be in order to "rebuild his bridges".

Also this season, he is not losing the ball because of himself as much. In previous seasons, he was forever trying 1 too many flicks and tricks and losing the ball, but this area has come on leaps and bound this season.

As someone else has already mentioned, you need to look at his entire game before you can judge him as the best in the world. Yes he has blistering pace and tricks to spare, but other areas of his game let him down such as defending. He could also be a little less selfish infront of goal in my opinion.

I'm going to go off topic for a moment now, but I also believe you also need to look at his conduct off the field, and yes I know this has nothing to do with his playing ability, but he is still representing himself, his sport, club and country when he is not playing, so when he totals his car while speeding, this can also have an impact.

Overall, I think if he can develop his weaker areas of his game (which don't really need that much work) then he can be the best (and as a Liverpool fan, trust me, it hurts to say that).

I know some of you may agree with me, others will not, but this is just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

"Opinions are like a**holes, everybody has one and they all stink in some way"

And by the way, Liverpool for the Champions League this year :P

yes, in terms of ability to beat players at pace, ronaldo certainly takes the spoils, however football can't be simply broken down into who's the best player by seeing dazzling skill etc, you have to ask yourself what u require from the answer to your question. If you asked me, who is the overall best player in the world, i wouldn't say Christiano Ronaldo, to me, the best player in the world would be someone who has exceptional attributes in all areas of the game i.e someone that can pass, tackle, defend, attack, create etc, etc. Take a look at the different criteria it takes to be labelled the best player in the world and start to tick your own boxes, for example can Christiano Ronaldo tackle and defend well? whwn asking this question, we suddenly seem to think a little differently. Take Steven Gerrard for example, his dribbling and pace might not be as good as Ronaldos but never the less his creativity and Defending might be.
I believe, too often attacking players get all the credit for being the worlds best but this years award to Fabio Cannevaro however much seemed to disagree goes to show that the true voters undrstand and appreciate other positions roles in the team. How good would Ronaldinho or Ronaldo look if their Goalkeeper let in 4-5 goals a game, the answer is, they wouldn't, the teams allows individuals to shine through hard work.
Perhaps you'll agree, perhaps you won't but one things for certain, it takes more than fancy stepovers to get my vote!

He is a very good player, one among the best of this year, but I don't think he's the best. Despite his stepovers and pace, he is too selfish, especially for a midfielder. He should learn more how to pass and cross for benefit of the team. He should play for the whole team and victory, not for himself or show-off.
