this is a country built on the idea of freedom of the press and speech right?...opposing viewpoints SHOULD be aired so that the citizenry can make informed decisions based on their own personal values right? it is a GOOD thing to see what the other side has to say on any issue isnt it? it is then up to you, the now informed citizen, to decide for yourself who and what you agree with and who you want to see representing you in washington or elsewhere. why wouldnt you want differing opinions voiced on our television, radio, cable, and internet media?...this is not, in fact, the old soviet union now is it...

(taking big sniff of fresh air)...ahhhh, the sweet smell of liberty!...enjoy it, this is one of the few countries that allow it!...BE THANKFUL FOR IT!!!!!!!!!

You are correct. This country was built on free speech. However, if it is your intention to DECONSTRUCT America, the last thing you want is someone or something that runs around making people think. Democrats do not want you to think. They want you to feel. Thinking is the realm of Conservatism.

The modern socialist-lite democrats want everyone to feel that they are being oppressed, even if they are not. They want you to feel someone else has an unfair advantage, even if they don't. They want you to feel, feel, feel. Feeling needs no proof. Feeling needs no facts.

Fox News, conservative talk radio, conservative blogs are all about the free exchange of ideas. Ideas not feelings. Ideas want to see facts. Ideas want to see examples. Ideas want to see evidence. So powerful is the truth that they cannot stand even one news station reporting it. Even though there are literally dozens that report the liberal take on the news. One such source can bring the whole democrat house of cards crashing down.

Why does the presence of hte Democratic party threaten Fox News so? Why do people like O'Reilly get all riled up when a liberal disagress with him? Same reason as your answer--people want you to believe what they believe as the truth. I watch O'Reilly and though I like the guy, I truly hate when he starts complaining that the "liberal" media is out to get him. Come off it--freedom of speech. If you dont' like Bush and his policies you have a right to say that in this country. IF you don't like the war, you have a right to say that. Both sides have a right to thier opinion, as do I as an American citizen. Both sides need to stop crying that the other side is out to get them and do what they do. Politicians and news people are such a joke nowadays.

I rather doubt the DemocratiC Party is threatened by Faux network. They see it for what it is. The loyal opposition. You are right we need diverse points of view to keep democracy going. I only wish some neocons would realize the same thing when they attack others.

I have always believed that if one is going to confront an enemy it is a pretty good idea to find out what he thinks or what he believes before commiting one's self in battle with him. So listening to a network that is biased in the opposite direction can prepare one for great battles to come.

Totalitarianism depends on total and unquestioned agreement with the establishment or government in power; Fearless leader, if you will. Democracy depends on diversity of views and criticism of Fearless leader when necessary.

They need fox news because they lack the evidence to win with the issues so they need power to make generalizations and attack before the evidence or proof will weaken the strong father figure image and prove that he or maybe she is no longer a good protectionist which they rely on to feel safe in times of fear when they should be fallowing representatives of the people`s will instead of father figures that know best.

i think FOX news is a breath of fresh air, compared to the conservative slams all the other news stations give. i think it's great that we can have both sides of the story shown in the media, and people need to accept freedom of press. sure, i am conservative and i personally think bill o'reilly is the MAN, but i wouldn't be happy if there wasn't an opposing view. it helps me decide what i want to believe on certain issues.

yes, dems, that's right. I AM AN OPEN MINDED REPUBLICAN!! call ripley's!

i love having both parties in the media. that's what makes politics so damn frustrating but entertaining at the same time.

and people, please. don't give us that "unbiased" crap. it comes from both sides. don't dish out what you can't take. seriously.

FOX News claims to be journalism. And as such we have rules set up by our government nonetheless that states that journalist must remain unbias in their reporting of the news.

We have all seen O'Reilly. If you believe that to be as they claim to be fair and balance, then I can probably sell you on the fact that the earth is actually flat.

That is not to say that other news stations aren't the same way. But your question addresses only FOX news.

Fox news reminds me too much of the swill spewn by Dr. Joseph Goebbels who was in charge of the Nazi propaganda during the l930s and 40s!

Just look at the Germans who swallowed it hook, line and sinker!

The rest is history!
