Well, here's a few. City of Troy, thought to be just a legend made up by history until science found the site of Troy. Now scientists are looking at the legend closer.
The problem is history is full of holes, many of which science is trying to solve. However there are mysteries that science ignores because it doesn't 'fit' into their history.
One thing we are discovering is the ancient civilizations were more advance than you learn about in class.

Up until the that point in history, people believed that the earth was the center of the universe, and that the Sun and planets revolved around Earth By utilizing his methods of observation, Galileo, with the aide of his invention of the telescope allowed him to study heavenly bodies and come to this conclusion. Well, most "mistakes corrected by science" are really changes in scientific understanding. But I guess you say the belief that the world was created recently more or less as it is today has been pretty thoroughly overthrown.

Most of the 'history' in the Bible was proved wrong even by relatively primitive science hundreds of years ago.

well i heard my science teacher giving some lecture to some children about the epics which seemed to be incorrect according to science.
