If it's been that long, doesn't sound like they're going to hire you. Next time, follow up sooner. Ask at the interview when they expect to make their decision, and follow up within a couple weeks of the interview. Send them a note the day after the interview, mentioning how interested you are in the position, and if you can think of anything to mention why you're a great candidate for them, say it in the note - maybe something like "my studies in xxxx make me a good candidate for the position of xxx".
Good luck.

Hmm... 7 weeks is a long time to pass, will they still remember you after almost 2 months? Obviously theyre not structured if they havent done some follow up to tell you to come in again for another interview, or to say no we dont think youre right for this or yes come on in..

You should have followed up sooner, a few days to one week after the interview. Did you send them a thank you note? When is the internship slated to start? You could always try, if you didn't get it then it won't hurt you, and if you did then I doubt they will care that you followed up.

I personally would have called them back after a week or so.
did you have any idea how many more people they were interviewing after you etc. I would call them and find out now, pick up the phone and call. (if fact the more you call and speak with them, the more they'll know you and you will stand out from the rest and this shows your tenacity etc.) best wishes to you!..

No point its been 7 weeks. Its most likely that they hired someone new so just move on and better chances may come to you.

If you want to work there sure. Just say you have not heard and are following up. Ask if they need any additional information from you.
Its probably not a good indicator of the company's organization that they did not get back to you.
