Is Imus out of line saying something like that or is Sharpton making something out of nothing?

Imus was rude for saying that, but al shaprton needs to worry about other things, like world hunger, or all the crack in the ghetto.

Imus is a "shock jock" who has been around a very long time and has evolved his show into a place where politicians and media types can go to converse with the public in an informal venue. Shows like Imus, Larry King, Bill O'Reilly are a mixture of comedy, bluster, spin, news, and commentary. They are not news shows and provide a more free-flowing exchange of ideas.

The part that got Imus in trouble is the shock jock comedy portion of the program where insults are the rule rather than the exception. He said something very stupid and deserves to be punished for what he said.

Al Sharpton is an opportunist who is using this for some yet unknown personal gain to help Al Sharpton. He has selectively chosen this "outrage" to get involved.

The biggest question that I have is this. How did Al Sharpton get to be a spokesman for black people? He is a shady character at best and has spent a number of years looking for ways to divide people rather than unite them.

Imus agreed that he was out of line, and has apologized repeatedly. Al Sharpton just will not accept the apology of a white person.

I think both of these blow-hards need to sit down and shut up. Imus should be fired, I know I would if I said what he did, and I am sick of Sharpton showing his mug every time something the slightest bit 'off-color' is muttered. How is racism going to improve at all while this is the result of any public comment? And honestly, doesn't the first amendment protect peoples' rights to be racist if they want to? Not if you're white! Talk about a double standard!

Go ahead and give me thumbs down if you like, I am sick of being a member of the one group that cannot speak freely anymore.

How would you like your sister or neice or aunt or mother to be called what Imus said? No one deserves to be called racist, sexist slurs, and definitely not young women who are setting an example for other men and women on how to succeed as students and athletes, by winning the biggest match in women's basketball. These women now have opportunities to get drafted in the WNBA and the US Olypmics. They deserve our praise, respect, and admiration. Sharpton has every right to make a big stink; I'm glad someone is standing up for them. I don't care what Sharpton's motives are, he's standing up to a jerk, and standing up for women who deserved so much more.

I agree with neither.

Imus said something no worse that what blacks say to each other.
Imus apologized.
Sharpton is milking this for every drop he can get out of it. That man is such a fraud its unbeleiveable. He has even started lying in an effort to vastly inflate the scope of the matter.
If Sharpton were genuine he would go after these gangster rappers that spew more filth toward their own race than any white man has ever done.

They are both rather sad. Those women are too smart, too professional and too adult to care too much about what a small time talk-show-host says. He sank his own boat and now even more pathetic climbers are standing on the wreckage trying to look taller. The publicity hounds move in for the kill after the fox is wounded. And a pretty toothless fox it is.
One of the processes of growing up is realizing that, for no fair reason, not everyone will like you and some will even say unkind things. The most adult thing to do is to hold your head up and move on.
Instead the people who made a fuss made him famous.
I'm more concerned with what has become of what used to be "journalism", or "news". Anna Nicole was not news, it was small town gossip but it has dominated the new for weeks.

I think Al Sharpton is exploiting the situation.....Al Sharpton just loves to be in the news....

....AND do you notice that NOBODY is mentioning this black stripper who accused the 3 students from Duke university of raping her....the Duke rape case was dropped because the girl lied. Where's the outrage there?

Does TAWANA BRAWLEY ring a bell?

initially, Skeptic62 i examine that tale about the student held by technique of that black guy in her position of abode, being tortured. it really is an insane tale! 2d, i believe maximum everybody the following at the same time as they say its finished crap, Sharpton is waiting for any little incident and he pounces, stressful funds and appreciate. Its loopy. there is not any rationalization for those professional businesses to provide up their funds in basic terms because he says no longer sufficient blacks are employed. Its no longer the businesses fault that there are not sufficient black persons employing for jobs or getting employed, i understand we are nevertheless in a mixed society of racism and non-racism yet there are communities with blacks because the overall public and they both make it or do not, clone of white human beings do. Sharpton has balls, i really won't be able to look ahead to the day at the same time as a business organization says NO, i'm no longer delivering free funds, and NO its no longer because we are racist.......

It is an interesting fact. All those who stand up for Rosie, saying she is entitled to her opinion and is protected by her constitutional rights and should not be fired are now calling for Imus to be fired. So, your freedom of speech is only protected when they agree with what you say, i.e. they want to introduce censorship on any opinion differing to theirs.
