But if we know why, it gives us a better chance of doing something about it. You certainly make a lot of broad statements without any facts to back them up. Do you understand anything about the effect of salt water on land? How do you suggest we "just drain it off"?
It's hard to argue with your final sentence though---better management of resources is a lovely idea. Why dont' you write to your congressman about that?

You are nuts.
The earth is not warming, it is in a normal cycle, which you cannot disprove.
You are wrong on your assertion of water usage. What is the number you pick for what we need? How did you come to that? You are full of crap.
Solar cannot produce enough in a day to keep up with my refrigerator. You would have to cover the earth about 50% with panels to operate on decent sized desalinator. Again you are full of crap.
You have no idea what a nuclear aircraft carrier costs nor do you have any idea of what a decent sized city is or what it costs to light one.
You are exactly as your moniker states, full of crap and you have been booted off of Yahoo perhaps more than any other user.
I decided to respond to this one because is shows what a piece of human excrement you really are.

Not all aspects of recycling are beneficial. And, actually some types and aspects are actually more environmentally and energy waste full.
Actually, paper can be more hurtful, as the de-inking and bleaching processes, can be more damaging to the waters, and air round the plant. Much worse, then a paper company monitoring a tree farm. So, be sure to also purchase post consumer paper.
And, with the recycling trucks, and plants themselves, the whole process adds to the energy and pollution problem, as well. So, much progress needs to be done in this field to be considered truly energy and environmentally friendly.
The type of recycling that is most beneficial right now is can recycling, because it is harder to min and make the aluminum from the bauxite. And of course batteries, electronics, metals, and in most cases glass.
Not saying, that recycling is bad, just saying, without researching what you are putting into your bins, or knowing what you are doing, it may not be helping as much as you would think, and may be hurting us just as much, if not in some cases more.
I hope this author does not think we should halt the military. Though, our military funding can easily be cut, and made more efficient, as any and all aspects of government, all sovereign governments need a strong national defense, yes defense.
The biggest threat I can see to the planet is the subsidy given by government to private business. Why protect oil, airline, or any company with government money, which is tax money, by proxy is from the people. In this country, we are to be free from socialism or fascism, and the meddling of government, in the private market.
Heres a good movie on global warming, shown on the BBC earlier this year :

Two nuclear reactors on an aircraft carrier can operate 20 years without refueling. Distillation plants provide 400,000 gallons of fresh water from sea water daily, enough for 2000 homes. What we need to learn from technology we already possess, is to apply it on land.

What happened to the New Ice Age that scientists were telling us about twenty years ago? That's right, twenty years ago, we were being told that the Earth was going into a New Ice Age. Check it out for yourself. Read some old Newsweek and Time magazines.
How about Y2K? Are you still worrying about that? You need to be a little more skeptical. Stop believing everything you hear.

lol, as the oceans rise we just drain some of it off... The ocean is not a bathtub. A one inch rise of sea level is like trillions of gallons of water. Do you know how long, and difficult, it would be to drain several trillion gallons of water from the ocean?

Well, if we care *why* we can take measures to reverse it.
What I don't understand is why people actually don't believe in Global Warming or that the environment is fragile. Are they completely oblivious to the fact that every action has an equal reaction? And why do they throw out their soda cans when there is a recycle bin two inches from the trash bin. Is it that hard to aim at a recycle bin?? It's just like trash, only different! And it's not like we're asking them to break it down themselves!
RECYCLE! IT'S NOT THAT HARD!!!
...sorry, I get worked up over it.

If human intervention caused global warming, it is proof that our actions can impact weather globally. It means we could alter the trend.
Proper resource management and recycling is something we should already have implemented. --It is irresponsible not to.

And there isn't a thing anyone can do about it unless someone can fly a giant spray bottle to the Sun and give it a few sprays to cool it off.
