Hey everyone,

I took my one hour glucose test yesterday and I am ridiculously nervous about it. How many of you failed the one hour? I really don't want to have to go through the 3 hour test!

I failed the 1 hour miserably. It was over 180 at the 1 hour mark. So they sent me for the 3 hour. I didn't end up having to do the 3 hour because my fasting was so high. So they diagnosed me with Gestational Diabetes. Now I have to watch what I eat and test my blood sugar at home 4 times a day.

I failed my 1 hour and my 3 hour glucose test with my last pregnancy and was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. It is truly nothing to be nervous about. If you have Gestational Diabetes, you will receive care at a diabetic clinic in addition to your pre-natal care. You will be given a meal plan plus be given and shown how to use a glucose monitor. With careful attention to your blood glucose levels and adherence to the meal plan, the risks to you and your baby can be decreased significantly. After your baby is born, you will both be tested in the hospital, but usually the diabetes is gone after the birth. That was 10 years ago that I had Gestational Diabetes and I have just recently been diagnosed with glucose intolerance which is a pre-diabetic condition. Once again I am paying close attention to my glucose levels and eating a specialized meal plan. Delivering a large baby is one risk when you have Gestational Diabetes, but my baby was only 6 pounds 14 ounces at 41 weeks. Developing Type 2 Diabetes later in life is another risk to moms who have had Gestational Diabetes.

I "marginally" failed the one hour, because I had pasta for lunch about an hour before the test. The 3-hour was horrible, because I couldn't eat for 8 hours prior to the test, and not during it either, and I was absolutely starving! I brought a sandwich with me, and started eating it in the waiting room the minute the test was over. But I passed the 3-hour test.

I passed it once and failed it 3 times. After 3 3 hour tests I have gestational diabetes this time only. It is not too bad. Don't worry. You will be fine even if you have the gestational diabetes. Good luck

Hi there! I totally understand. I was worried about the same thing, but my test came back negative. The following are factors that put you at high risk for gestational diabetes (from babycenter.com). I wouldn't spend time worrying about it if these don't apply to you.

Obesity (body mass index over 30).
A history of gestational diabetes (if you've had the condition in a previous pregnancy).
A strong family history of diabetes.

Not sure how your Dr does it.. But i just recently had mine done.. and i was told that if i didnt hear from them that i had passed and everything was fine. So maybe you just passed so they didnt think they needed to call? otherwise why not call them.. i dont see why it would take that long to get the results.

Did you take it at home or clinic. Lowest Blood sugars are early morning, later in the day they elevate.
