People in the movie industry have been given so much...they have looks, money, talent. But many of them keep this money to themselves instead of giving it out. Now dont give me an example of 2 or 3 actors or actresses that do, because there are more than that that have the capability but reall dont. If I were a strong voice for the people of India, and had political connections, do you think it would be possible to convince some of these bollywood folk to contribute to the less priveleged?

Actually actors and actresses pay lots of money into charities a year.... Something else the news doesn't tell you.

Charity dinners.
Premiers.
So on and so on.

I agree. I'm from the US, and though I'm not into Bollywood films, I still think that it would be a good thing if more of these actors could use their prosperity to do good things. They could donate their money to the less fortunate, encourage others to do the same, and use their wealth and connections to influence politicians to help the needy.

I was born and raised next to Hollywood in Los Angeles. We had movie and television stars in our house throughout the years. They are just like anyone else when they are away from the bright lights and movie cameras. My Aunt was a famous country music star of the 50's and early 60's before her death, so our family was used to well known stars.

As India wrestles with caste issues, I think you will see more openly donating time and services. Many claim to already donate through their faiths. Some feel it is immodest to donate more openly, but politics and human rights issues may illicit change. Being in the public eye, they certainly have the capacity to be good role models ... especially for India's youth.
