I am a black woman and I could honestly care less. I suppose some black women may view it as you being a "traitor" to the race in that you may not have given black women a fair chance. And you may be right some black women may feel robbed. Not necessarily of you ( I'm sure you're nice though) but of what your relationship represents, which is a growing number of eligible black men dating/ marrying white women. I don't think they expect their comments to change your love and all but they want their dissatisfaction with not particularly your relationship alone but all like yours to be known. They're just trying to make themselves feel better and make you uncomfortable; their feelings come from a feeling of internal rejection. There are all these messages in the media that are constantly denouncing anything non-European as being unattractive, and if black men don't think black women are beautiful or if black men don't marry black women, there's a fearful question of who will. Don't take it personally with time you'll either just learn to ignore it or soon enough interracial relationships will be all the rage and no one will really care to say anything anymore. It's something within them, obviously, not you or your wife.

Well, for record purposes only I will tell you that I am a white woman. Personally I don't see where the issue is. If two human beings love one another that should be enough. People make comments out of ignorance and there is no excuses for it. I believe that regardless of race, religion, creed or sexual preference people should be treated as equals. True love has no face. Embrace who you are as a couple, stand with your heads high and react with dignity when you hear the words of a society that wont accept you. At the end of the day its your wife that you come home to not the people on the street. Your love is sacred, I accept you and I await the day when society can see that under our skin we are all the same. Racism is the cancer of our people and strong people such as yourselves are the cure. Keep strong, my thoughts are with you as your story has touched me (as have many others in your place).

The truth is because some black men are self hating, and bash black women in this process. This is why many of us get mad. There's nothing wrong with it, just as long as you don't bash your own race. The truth is also they often do it for mixed kids with long hair and light skin, slave mindset. I love white men, but don't say, black men attitude, I hate black men and others. Black men get mad when we do it too. Some I mean, like it's o.k. for them not us, hypocrisy. Also 41.2 % of black women are unmarried, we feel like they're taking all of them, white women can GET ANY RACE BLACK WOMEN ARE LIMMITED, WATCH DARK GIRLS DOCUMENTARY OR LIGHT GIRLS, YOU UNDERSTAND. Counting gay black m, jail, it makes it even more slim. Nothing against it, but most of the time, they think it's a prize or award. I gave up, most of the men who liked me were white... in fact, more black men are saying that they only date white women, or rap songs bashing black women. This is sad our generation has gone down...

Do not categorize all black women and all white men as being angry because they see a black man with a white woman because some of us could care less as to who you are with.
Now, to answer your question...Many black women feel that when a white woman is with a black man, he only wants the white woman because the black woman will not put up with his b.s.
Now answer this, do you only date/marry white women and if so, what's your drive behind this?

I dont really care what black man marries a white woman, so dont categorize black women and white men. The better term is "Why do SOME black women and white men. There are black men and white women who also oppose any black/white interracial unions, so dont get too flattered.
Actually, I have experienced this hatred from black men and white women, when I am on dates with white men, and some of my black girlfriends have too.

I am a white women. I dont feel there is anything wrong with a white women and black man (vice versa) falling in love. However I hate when White women only will date black men (vice versa) . Like they will only look, date, mingle with black men. I have dated black men, white men and thats fine because I look for certain things besides color. Example : My white female friend would NEVER date or go on a date with a white man. That is what is disgusting. She is racist to her own color. That really annoys me about her, I just dont understand. But in your case you guys are in love and to me that is beautiful. Good luck

Wake up and smell the daisies...whatever are you talking about??? Interracial marriages are common and all the ones I've seen are doing well. I personally haven't seen any evidence of what you're stating. I feel a person is a person is a person no matter the colour of their skin.
It's too bad that in this point in time you are still subjected to negativity for your relationship. Try to ignore the ignorant and enjoy your wife and your love for each other.

Stop over generalizing. It's rude. I'm a black woman and i could give 2 s.hits about a black man dating a white, pink or green woman. As long as both of u are happy, that's all that matters. It;s only insecure people who have some sort of personal hang ups who get irritated by interracial couples.

it's just racism. plain and simple. a continuation of the "us" vs. "them" mentality. it sucks when you and your wife have to deal with it, but unfortunately, not everyone is living in 2007. as long as you two are happy that's all that matters. this type of mentality is also present int he gay community. i had a serious relationship a while back with a man from cameroon, and he got flack from the african american community for being gay, african, and for dating a white guy.
i had a similar type of thing happen. i'm not married to a black woman, but in high school, my best friend was a black woman and we did everything together. we went to a wedding (her family) where the groom (black) was marrying a white woman. not only did none of her family show up (racism), but there were grumbles from the groom's family. i had one older man from my friend's family say to me "we're not going to be doing another mix wedding", pointedly to the fact that my friend and i were together as dates. but most of the younger crowd was happy. so maybe that means the attitude against interracial marriages is dying out. who knows.
