Seen, or run into, or spoke to? Probably about two dozen or more. I spent lots of time in NY and DC, so I saw several entertainment celebrities and recognized political figures.

I'll include "sightings," although in NY especially one is expected to "be cool" and not stare at or bug them.

Let me try to remember: Joe Jackson, Rick Ocasek (The Cars), Jason Robards, Robery Wuhl, Charlton Heston, S. Epatha Merkeson (the woman from Law and Order - shared a train ride and she was VERY nice), Yogi Berra, Ed Bradley (60 Minutes), Rudy Guiliani (spoke at a dinner I attended), Ed Meese, Ken Starr, Tommy Davidson (from In Living Color). Alan Keyes, the whole Monty Python troupe (John Cleese was by far the most friendly, staying quite a while to chat), Chris Noth (Law and Order), Donald Trump, and one or two others I don't know the names of or can't remember.

Oh yeah, also met Mike Tyson, right after the face tattoo. Was introduced and just exchanged a few words. He was nice, but given his reputation I was super-scared.

I saw Carter, Mondale, Mario Cuomo, Michael Dukakis and Bush 41 at campaign or other events and/or in motorcades.

I blew a chance to meet Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys. Friends and I were leaving a club, and I was in a hurry. I was mad that they were chatting with this guy for a long time at the door - I was waiting on the street. Finally they came up and told me who it was. I knew the music but not the face.

Whatever. I'm in my 40s and so I've seen a fair number. I saw some broadway plays but didn't include those people - that's not a "meeting," or even a sighting on the street. I'm not trying to be "dig me" with the answer, but I've never listed them all and it was fun to try to remember.

I'm not sure who I would LIKE to meet. Usually just buying the record or watching the movie is enough for me. I wouldn't mind running into Cleese again, and thanking him for being so nice to a spotty teenage boy. Eric Idle had a dropdead gorgeous woman on each arm and couldn't get into the limo fast enough!

PS I also went to high school with Rich Sambora of Bon Jovi. Haven't seen him since he hit it big. He was always a great guitar player and a good guy. My sister was better friends with him and knew him better. Hey, no nasty remarks!

I've been to lots of concerts but didn't list these.

PPS Met Adrian Belwe (King Crimson) at an autograph event. Fun guy - not stuck up.

My sister worked in an art store and there was a signing event by Eve Plumb (Jan Brady). My sister had to spend the day with her and they really hit it off. I just got a quick "hello" - I had to be somewhere else and was hurrying away. It was a strange scene, to say the least.

I once met Gavin Rossdale and the other members of Bush. I also once met Fergie, the Duchess of York. I work at a health food store, and I have waited on the Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, the actor Judge Reinhold and the senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor. I have also seen Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen come into the store, but I haven't served them.

too many to list.

Probably the most famous was Paul McCartney, a few years ago. He was with his then wife Heather Mills.

Met him at a restaurant in Newport Beach. We chatted about California and California Wines. He was totally cool, and I think he appreciated that I treated him like a normal person, instead of a former Beatle.

I really wanted to ask him about John Lennon, the Beatles, etc., but it didn't feel right. I regret not getting his autograph. I was trying too hard to play it cool.
