i have heard and seen diferent versions of billy the kid,but i was wondering how close is young guns?

is it close or accurate to the real story or did he like some the books say got shot and killed by garrett.

well his ultimate fate is still a mystery.. the old man in Young guns 2 is Bushy Bill Roberts, a man who in the 30's claimed he was Billy the kid.

A few years ago they took his corpse (he died in the 60's) and did a examination. While many people who knew Billy claimed it was him, there was too many differences between the corpse and what was known of Billy.

However, Unsolved Mysteries told a interesting twist that they say they can prove.

Pat Garret went to meet the govenor but they were tired of chasing Billy. Pat was told that the state was willing to make a deal with Billy.

Pat later caught up with Billy in Fort Sumner and told him that he must leave the state and never come back. Supposedly he did.

However despite all this, there is a grave in Fort Sumner that says William H. Boney on it. along with two of his pals.

Today it is covered over by concrete and a bared cage.


one other thing.


in the museum there is a pic of Billy that they say is the only true portrait of Billy. It shows a different look to Billy.

Most of the movies told of a well dressed man.

however they say this pic is real and it shows rags and an outlaw.

The facts are that Billy the Kid was supposedly killed by his old friend Pat Garrett. This is what was reported at the time of the real Kid's death. Most people, even then, believed the Kid was indeed still alive; only retired.
As for the movie Young Guns/Young Guns II (both very good movies) about 99% of those movies are pure fiction very loosely based on 'myth' and just strait made-up for entertainment purposes.
