I am a 35 year old female who exercises regularly. Six days ago I spend the whole day (a few days actually) painting and building a patio (my body is accustomed to hard work though). I have seasonal allergies. It was windy and my allergies were definately stirred up. I didn't stop for lunch that day and by that evening my body was achie and I had a headache. I simply thought I worked hard and needed some rest and food. I ate a good dinner, took some ibuprophen and went to bed. If I'm on ibuprophen I'm ok. As soon as the ibprophen wears off the aches return. It has been 6 days now. ( I do have a slight thightness in my chest. When I take a deep breath it makes me cough slightly) Can anyone tell me what this might be?

It sounds like you're having an allergic reaction to the paint fumes (bronchi-stuff). It also sounds like you haven't used certain muscles in a while, painting can be quite strenuous in different ways. It wouldn't hurt to make an apt. with your doc. & get checked-out.

I may just be that you are getting sick. I don't know where you live, but this is the time of the year that flus and colds are going around. I was sick for 2 weeks. I started off with a headache. I thought it was because of a new hairspray I was using. But, it got worse and I ended up with aches and sneezing and then a full blown head and chest cold. Then just when I thought I was getting better, my cold turned into a sinus infection. I took tylenol but even that didn't help me. I live on one side of Canada, my family on the other, and no matter who I am talking too back home, or where I go here, everyone talkes about how they have been sick.

Hopefully thats all it is! Good luck and hope you feel better soon! :)

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck.
Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at

It could be a viral cold or it could be from your allergies, if your chest feels tight you should have your MD listen to your lungs, you may need an inhaler or nebulizer to help loosen your chest up a little, Good Luck!

Why don't you go to a doctor? You need a diagnosis and sometimes even doctor aren't good at that. The aches and pains I wouldn't worry about too much because ibuprofen takes care of them , but the chest pain would have me worried.

The only good answer to this is go and see a doctor. After 6 days you should have this checked out.
