The good news for those with fallopian tube problems are you only need one working tube to conceive. Each month the body switches ovaries and tubes to release a egg. One month it may be the right ovary and right tube, next month it may be the left ovary and left tube and then back to the right ovary and right tube. Surgery is also a option to unblock tubes. Believe it or not women I have come across have told me that have been diagnosed with a tubal blockage have told me that their OB never offered another form of fertility option such as surgery. If your OB doesn't seem to offer any hope with your diagnoses I highly recommend finding a new OB.
If you do have one blocked tube and a regular cycle the best thing you can do is start or continue using a ovulation chart and having sex on your fertile days. With trying every day religiously on your fertile days, keeping your hips up 15 minutes after sex and having sex in missionary position (man on top, woman on bottom) you should eventually have success within a year.

Sometimes women have periods without ovulating, that is called an anovulatory cycle. Also if you only have one tube but two working ovaries you can ovulate without the egg being able to get to the uterus.

However as long as you have a working ovary connected to a working tube you can get pregnant, it just might take a little longer.

You can have annovulatory cycles in which you have a withdrawl bleed. Just because you have a period, even a regular period, doesn't mean you are ovulating. If you want to know for sure, you need to start taking your basal body temperature every morning when you first wake up. The day after you ovulate you will notice your temperature is higher and it should stay higher until you either get your period two weeks later or find out you are pregnant. The reason your temperature goes up after you ovulate is that once you ovulate, you produce progesterone which causes your temperature to go up.

No you do not always ovulate and without ovulating you cannot become pregnant.

I too only have one tube now...had an ectopic that burst in January causing me to lose my right tube....my doctor explained to me that as long as my other tube is fine(we do not know that yet) then even though there is only one tube I would still have an 80% of getting pregnant. It will just take longer than average to become pregnant.

Like the others.. I only have one tube and one ovary following a ruptured dermoid cyst, if you have both ovaries and one tube you have slightly less chance of concieveing each month as it depends on which ovary the ovum comes from although i have seen studies where women with one tube and one ovary on oposite sides have concieved because the tube is hypermobile and moved across!! so its possible yours could do the same.

No- I lost my right ovary 10 years ago to a tumor. I still have a period every month. I have had 2 babies. and got pregnant with both of them right away. Your remaining ovary takes over and you ovulate and have a period normally

basically a period is when your womb creats a soft lining so when your egg is released it has a soft nourishing place to imbed itself into.
If the egg is not fertilised the lining is expelled therefore creating a period.

I would say as a rule YES you must ovulate so an egg can be released ready for fertilisation. If you dont ovulate basically NO egg.

I wish you best of luck in becoming a long awaited parent. xx

I believe you'll get your period regardless of whether you've ovulated. However you can only get pregnant if you ovulate.
