We are looking into adopting an older child. My son's twin was overdosed in the hospital 4 years ago, (when he was 6 1/2) and we .... know that we know.... we are going to adopt. We took the adoption training classes last August. Does anyone know any child between the ages of 6-10 that needs adopted. We are a Christian family and look forward to meeting the child we have been praying for. Our son wants to know when the new boy is coming. We have dealt with special needs, so we are pretty open to children and pray they will "put-up" with us too. :o) Thanks in advance. Email me at Amore4Christ@yahoo.com

Contact your state's local children services program or foster care. They will be able to arrange an "older" adoption for you. And because you go through the foster care program to adopt, it costs much less than doing it through a lawyer or adoption agency typically.

I would be hesitant to find someone through the internet though because of all the horrible scams people do to adoptive parents these days. Network with friends and family (and the church too). That's how we met our son's biological family - through our neighbor!

Take care and good luck to your family!

Ok, well disregard my email then! Cuz I know the answer hehe!

Anyways, a friend of mine has an aunt & uncle who adopted from China twice. My friend told me (because I asked why, since there are so may kids here who need families) that if a child is adopted in America, the birth parents can get that child back (though Im sure its a long process, it can be done). But if the child is from another country, the biological parents can't get him/her back.

Have you looked at the State of Ohio's "Adopt Ohio" website? It is:

There are a lot of children in that age range who are waiting to be adopted. We are getting ready to adopt our foster daughter from the state. She's 6 years old and a true blessing. Good luck to you!
