They have to be taught, there have been cases of children raised in isolation by fanatic parents who literally did not know how to have sex. There was a case in the 40s where such a man was attempting to commit rapes, but honestly didn't know what went where. He also didn't know that the urges he was feeling were in any way connected to reproduction.
