Someone I know highly suspects that his wife is cheating. He does not want to do anything illegal. He knows anything connected to a telephone would be ,so he would like to know if it is legal to put a recorder in his house.

Yes. He can even put in hidden surveillance cams. Now, answer me this, Why can't he just inquire about his suspicions, to her?

Yes that is legal. People and businesses do it all the time. Look at all the nanny cams you see where the nanny is abusing kids. A voice recorder would be no different. If the telephone is in his name, that wouldn't be illegal either.

Yes he can record in his own home. And yes it can be used in court in some cases. Technically marriage is a legal contract and her cheating is a breech in that contract. At least that's how I have heard it argued. I recommend he records and proves his suspicions true or false. If they are true go to a lawyer before letting on to what he knows and set things in motion

Your friend can put a recorder in his house, the only problem is that he probably won't be able to use it in court since it's his wife's house as well. I would recommend you talk to a lawyer about the laws in the state you are in. Some states require single party consent, while other states require two party consent for voice recorders to be used in court.

Check with the laws in your state. California Nanny cams are Illegal in other states they are legal.

If he is the owner of the home then yes it is perfectly legal to do so, in uk anyway
